Charles Ed McKinney was born in Fort Payne Al. I went to high
school in Atlanta Ga. I entered the army 13 June 1969 I went to
Fort Campbell KY for basic training. Upon completion I was
assigned to Fort Bliss TX for automatic weapons school Quad 50,
M-60 & Dusters M-40mm. I was then sent to Cam Ranh Bay,
Vietnam. I then went to my unit at An Khe, Camp Radcliffe with
the 4/60th Arty.E battery quad 50s spent time in Cu Chi, Hula,
Dak To, escorted convoys for about 4 months then I was sent to a
little place off of Mang Yang Pass called Op Delta 1on a ground
mounted Quad attached to the 4th infantry Div. Returned to the
world in August 1970 and was stationed at Fort McPherson GA
with 525 MP Group as a prison chaser. I was honorably
discharged on 4 Dec. 1970. I drove a truck cross country for 30
years and received my VA disability in 2000 & 100% PTSD.
